The Most Scenic Ride So Far!

The Line Up!

The Line Up!

On Sunday the 25th of August, A glimpse of Spring riding weather was enjoyed by all on our triple head cruise. The 42 riders that braved the early morning meet up had the pleasure of experiencing Sydney Harbour at its finest. By no means was this the longest, largest or fastest ride we have organised, it was by far one of the most scenic. Contending with some traffic and three national parks worth of speed humps, it’s understandable that most of our lower clearance riders did not want to risk losing their sump plugs on this journey, but those who took on the challenge, the rewards at the end destination made it all worthwhile. From our starting point at Mrs Macquarie chair, the team, collective filtered seamlessly amongst the busloads of tourists and gathered for our annual obligatory tourist photo in front of the iconic harbour features. As the sound of 40+ scooters and motorbikes starting brought this location alive we all headed north, with a slight twist in our ride route we entered the Cahill Expressway in front of the Art Gallery of NSW with heads turning everywhere.

After crossing the Harbour Bridge we headed directly to Bradley’s head, riding along the ridge of the heavily forested peninsular, with glimpses of the harbour’s water on both sides of the road right down to the top of the amphitheatre, you could easily be mistaken for riding on a small coastal town road.

As we looped around the Taronga Zoo Wharf past the waiting crowds lining up to enter the Zoo, we were greeted with waves, cheers and some were even filming the parade of mismatched rides and riders.

Out of one Harbour Park to the next, we made our way past the heavily fortified HMAS Penguin, along the middle head bunkers to Chowder Bay, with glimpses of our destination across the glistening waters of Sydney Harbour. Making our way along Balmoral beach and the Bather’s Pavilion we tackled the steepest street on the lower North Shore, that took us up to the beginning of The Spit. To the credit of all our corner markers and our tail gunner Sean on his Honda Monkey, we managed to keep the team in one pack.

Madest Monkey in Sydney!

Through Manly’s busy harbour beach, our climb began to the rocky outcrop that is North Head.

This is where our ride took a turn, after parking up, we all walked to the lookout, standing 90 meters above the waters and the entrance to Sydney’s harbour we drew our raffle.

Thank you to all the riders and various rides that attended, from our own Hunter Scooter in stock & custom format, a large and entertaining number of Honda Groms and Monkeys, in all colours and a myriad of highly customised rides which inspire us and love sharing these rides with.

Our goal with these events is to be all inclusive and to build a community who embraces the unique and different world of small fast things that roar!

Low, Loud and Long!

Low, Loud and Long!

Is it cheaper to own and run a scooter than a larger bike or a car?

fuel is a big consideration

fuel is a big consideration

The short answer to this question is an undeniable ‘Yes’.

At Hunted Scooters we are often asked by prospective owners;

  • How fast our Hunter Scooter goes?

  • How much does it cost to fill up a tank and what range will that give?

  • How much is costs to register and insure each year?

These are all very valid questions and let me start answering them with our vision when starting our business. We wanted to offer Australian riders a uniquely styled scooter, that not only offered the owner and alternative transport solution but the opportunity to reduce their carbon footprint while allowing their individuality and style to be represented in the form of their vehicle.

Fill your tank for $6!!

Fill your tank for $6!!

Top Speed and Fuel Consumption:

The speed is an important question; if I’m going to commute I want to know that I can go on a highway or a cross city tunnel.

Our scooters can do the speed limit in Australia 110klm/hr, at this speed their rated 2.1ltr/100klms fuel consumption is slightly increased. But when cruising between the average speed limits of 60-80klm/hr the engine performs very efficiently. When considering the average speed through traffic is 20-30klms/hr the fuel efficiency is fantastic.

A 5.5 litre fuel tank can go as far as 130-140klms urban travelling and when tested on the Royal National Park road from Loftus to Thirroul without the stop start of city traffic we have been able to squeeze close to 200klms. That’s a $7 full tank at today’s petrol prices.

Annual Rego:

To keep your 150cc scooter registered annually this can depend on your license, age and where you live in Australia, but working on an inner city suburb in Sydney on a full riders license that cost is $146 for a green slip through QBE and $150 for registration a total of $296, with standard plates

 Servicing:

Now that you have the running cost it’s good to factor in services at approximately $250 every 2000klms or every 6 months, time saved in transit is invaluable and parking in most places is free within the allotted time limit.

Let’s wrap this up!

So for a fill up of $7 annual rego under $300 and parking mostly for free! The verdict is in… A scooter is a much more economical transport solution and is a heap more fun to commute and offers the rider an ability to reconnect to the world around them in a disconnected world.

Series IV is in stock with all our dealers listed on our BUY page, so call them up and book in your test ride today.

Stock is limited with only a few Dark Knights (matte black) and Obsidian (gloss black) 2019 plated stock remaining.

We hope to see you on the road or our next ride on the 14th April through the Nasho, so you can test the fuel efficiency yourselves. Get all of the info through our Facebook Event page https://www.facebook.com/events/284654788874325/ and follow us to get regular updates.

Mrs Macquarie's Chair - Palm Beach -Winter Ride July 2018

Yes you heard right, a Sydney Winter Ride!

bloody tourists!

IMG_8838.JPG

Riders of varying small street beasts from far and near braved the coldest Sydney weekend temps of the year for our oxymoronic winter beach ride .. Following the success, hilarity and entertainment brought on from our last two group rides and filled with a mix high octane fuel (most of us) along with a good dose of adrenaline and spirit, we did it once again last Sunday, with the largest turn out to date, thanks largely to our adoptive, supportive and inclusive friends from the Hunter community and the other ‘small bike’ world of the Honda Groms (insert shameless shout out…. HERE) namely SydneyGromSquad and Gromzunited, Thanks Team.

The meet up point: Mrs Macquarie’s Chair, Sunday 10am. Fresh clear skies and even fresher temps! Everyone was impressively timely, considering some of the distances travelled prior to arrival at our meet up location. With a starting group of 50 riders, we took to the obligatory tour group photos in front of the most iconic harbour backdrop in the world (Thanks Sydney for putting on the show).

After getting the friendliest nod from the Federal police presence at "the chair", our ride began.. Armed this time with a few tasty give away treats for the first rider’s raffle and the largest group assembled so far. AWESOME WORK TEAM!!

We rode the Sydney city streets, The Harbour and Spit bridges northward on through the forest lined Wakehurst Pkwy on mass, to the world famous Summer Bay!

With a glance to the side of the pack every now and then, the onlookers were waving, most in dismay at what was unfolding in front of them, some filming on their mobile phones what essentially was, lots of big kids, riding fast little bikes, having the time of their lives!

When we all finally arrived through the hairpins and winding suburban streets at Palm Beach (Summer Bay) car park the drone was launched (thanks Tom), the rides were lined up and the raffle was drawn!

Thanks to the kind and generous donations, the lucky riders drawn went home with an array of gifts including:

T-shirts, hoodies, a 12 bar among the many laughs had!

If you are keen to join the next ride please keep your eyes on our facebook or instagram page Huntedscooters. The next ride will be 23rd September 2018, with more ride details and raffle prizes released closer to the date.

Please also note: We welcome all riders and rides, We always adhere to the state laws, speed limits, always ride in a courteous manner within the road rules and guidelines and most importantly always state to all riders, from our many learners to our most experienced riders to ride to their own abilities, this is to ensure every rider enjoys the ride and gets home safely.

These are community based rides for leisure, pleasure and to put a smile on your dial! They do not happen without your participation, We look forward to seeing all Sydney based riders on the next ride and hope this can become a permanent fixture in your quarterly calendars for 2019 and beyond.

Until then, ride safe

Bondi to Palm Beach Ride!

What a perfect day for it too.... most of the crew met at Bondi at 9am just before the 'Sculptures by the Sea' crowd turned up in droves! needless to say there were many heads turning and a few sunburnt arms by the end of the ride...! all in all the scoots got put through their paces on some of the most scenic roads Sydney has to offer. The northern beaches were spectacular and the road leading in to Palm beach proved to be a great source of fun, long winding bends and undulating hills. if you want to know more or join the next run please just email us.
