Wraith 170cc! First you get the power, then you need the air, then you tune your carbi...

Dark Knight Wraith 170cc

Dark Knight Wraith 170cc

Hello Hunters, By now most of you have seen images of the all new 2020 Hunter Scooter Wraith 170cc, some have even been lucky enough to see one in the flesh. All presales have been delivered and the remaining fulfilled orders are on their way across the nation to their new owners.... The Wraith one serious beast that not only packs an aesthetic punch but delivers with an impressive performance upgrade to match its aggressive street presence. This post is specifically for owners who have taken delivery of their Wraiths and are looking to get the maximum performance out of their upgraded motor... With every new Hunter Scooter series created, we have been on the ground at our factory overlooking every aspect of the production line to ensure our scoots meet our high standards of construction. Due to Covid19, we were unable to conduct the QC in person however, with our trusted team we were able to live stream, video conference and virtually inspect every stage of the production line. Since receiving delivery in June, we have been genuinely impressed with the quality of our Series V Hunter Scooter. In 2020 Hunted Scooters HQ dialled it up a notch, replacing the 150cc variant with a new power plant in the form of a 170cc motor which delivers 20% more power and almost 50% more torque. This new setup would have normally gone through some fine tuning at the factory before shipping. As we weren't afforded this opportunity with series V we have been busy testing on the ground in Sydney's Winter climate over the past two weeks. As expected the new motor delivers the desired result with increased acceleration and power however, we have discovered the new motor is hungry for air and requires a leaner fuel/air carburettor setting than delivered from factory to ensure it doesn’t “bog down” when travelling over 80klms/hr. Your scooter contains a number of newly match components that require time to bed in correctly. Following your user manual guidelines for the first 300klms you should slowly accelerate keeping the speed under 80klms/hr and use the brakes gently to avoid squealing and warping of the front and rear discs, but if you ride like we do, you want to know early what your Wraith is capable of… If you are finding that your beast feels like it has more to give but is holding back, here are a few tips we can offer to improve your riding experience. (From July 2020 all Wraiths will have these new settings implemented prior to delivery.)

Steps to improve the top end performance if you feel a lag when riding over 80klms/hr (not all scooter will require this if you are happy with their performance at high speeds)

1.       Your intake filter located on the rear left hand side of the scoots comes with an upgraded bracket underneath for strength and durability. During production your air filter should have 2-3 plates which create a breathing intake sufficient for the new 170cc motor replaced creating 2-3 gaps. If you find you only have one plate you can do two easy fixes to allow more air into the carbi to allow the motor to breath better resulting in a higher top end speed.

Step 1: Remove the 3 Allen screws and ensure the plastic chrome spacer rings face each other increasing the gap between them allowing air to flow more freely under high speed load (photo attached)

Face the chrome plates spacer to spacer to create a larger intake hole

Step 2: Drill a small hole through the blue cover plate to allow more air into the carbi (photo below).

Step 3.    As the new motors were tested in a factory environment your carbi air/fuel mix may have been increased more than necessary for higher speed riding. This is also an easy fix! Simply locate your carbi grab the flat head screw driver provided in your tool kit and adjust the screw on the left hand side of the scooter under the seat pan. Make sure you scooter is running and allow 60secs for the electronic choke to disengage. Once warmed and idling turn the brass screw at the bottom of the carburettor clockwise until closed, you will hear the engine revs change as the motor is starved of fuel… then counter clock wise 1.5 turns from closed until you hear a slight increase in revs, please note do not exceeded 2 full turns of this screw as this will cause your scooter the cut out at speed and as you roll of the throttle.

Step 3      The final step to maximise the flow of air through your engine system and increase the soundtrack on your new scoots….. The Wraith carbon exhaust comes with a removable baffle. This is one of the most satisfying changes you can make to your scooter which will not only enhance your riding experience but improve the performance of your 170cc motor. Locate the rubber stopper under the carbon tip of your muffler remove using a number 5 allen key carefully remove the baffle bolt ensuring you keep the bolt on the top of the allen key as you remove it (note: if you drop it in the exhaust tip use a magnetic to remove it.) Once the bottom bolt is removed, grab the inner exhaust ring with a pair of pliers and pull hard ensuring the scooter is stable, twist gently if cold to remove baffle from muffler.

Since the first Hunter Scooter released back in October 2016, we made a conscious commitment to improve and deliver the most unique scooter experience with unrivalled aftermarket support service to our loyal Australian family of riders. Unlike many other companies our street beasts started a passion project with a dream to create a customisable platform that was just as exciting to ride straight out of the crate, with an unlimited scope to create a one of a kind ride to express each rider’s individual style in our mass produced consumer world.

We hope this technical advice is helpful in making your machine even more fun to ride, the information provided above may seem a little daunting at first to attempt yourself, but if you follow these instructions, it allows you as a member of one of the most exclusive riding families to increase your skill set and understand the mechanics of your machine a little better and give you the confidence to tinker and tweak your ride to reflect your individuality. If you are unsure, please always feel free to contact Luke for any assistance or pass this link to your local scooter mechanic at your first service.

Remember, Stand out from the pack, Create your own path, Enjoy every moment of the ride and don’t just focus on the destination!

Without your continued support and shared passion for our scoots we wouldn’t exist.

Platitudes of gratefulness,

Luke @ Hunted Scooters HQ

Wraiths can appear in many forms.  They are often portrayed as dark shadow-like entities clothed in black with limbs outstretched.
If seen, their arms and legs take the form of bare bones. Their faces, like endless black holes hiding inside their chariots gravity forming rear wheels.
They also appear as shapeless shadows and dark figures just hiding in the night in unknown places, waiting to capture the soul of anyone that sees one cross their path.
They are solitary, often described as full of devastation and fury.  These creatures are also intelligent and unique. They are non conforming, acting against societal norms. They seek their own path until they have captured their true purpose.
They float like shadows, moving about at their will; with speed filling the air with a sense of destiny.
Their presence causes the skies to suddenly darken and the air to chill.
These ghosts cut straight to the core. They simultaneously excite and drain the life out of anything they pass or touch.
These malevolent beings roar about the world constantly searching for souls to enchant and capture.  Once they have, the victims are condemned to wander endlessly as part of their clan.

The most important fact to remember is... These Scoots are fun to ride!

Due to land early May 2020.

For all our followers and purchasers

We would like to personally thank each and every one of you for supporting an Australian small business that creates fun, small, fast things and for hanging in there with us.

We have been pushing this order everyday amidst global mayhem, systematic lockdowns and chaos, but the good news is, we are seeing a light at the end of this Covid tunnel and we can't wait for those pre purchasers to be riding out into the open fresh air on your new scoots.

Our Series V Hunter Scooter Wraith 170cc's are built, packed and ready to ship!

We have been so thankful for the support we have recieved through these trying times and have so much gratitude for our existing customers!

The NEW 2020 Hunter Scooter Wraith, fresh off the production line... As you can see in these images there are a few new and exciting upgrades plus a rear wheel guard, DO NOT FRET this has been an addition to our order from those everyday commuters requests, however it is not a necessity for ADR compliance as your number plate holder has a dual purpose of acting as a rear guard. We have also upgraded everyone who pre-ordered with a carbon exhaust.

We are getting so close the finish line and can almost hear the new 170cc motors kicking over and their exhaust note roaring down the local streets of Australia.

Here at Hunted Scooters HQ we are always looking to thrill and revitalise our Hunter Scooter..... This year is no exception, in 2020 we have a brand new beast to titillate and tantalise the fans. The all new 170cc Hunter Scooter Wraith is the most powerful scooter we have produced to date. With its unique styling, aggressive street presence we now have a performance chart to match. The New 2020 Scoots produces more than 20% more power and almost 50% more torque, its easy to understand why 50% of series V have already sold.

With such an overwhelming response from you the Australian public, we were desperately hoping to have our rider’s cruising the streets and turning heads in February, however there have been a number of supply chain issues caused by the outbreak in China of the Corona virus, so unfortunately it is not only us that are experiencing delays.

To all our purchasers, we appreciate your patience through this unprecedented situation. We are in communication with our suppliers and factory daily and are receiving updates, telling us that everything is on hold for the time being, we have even had one of our frame suppliers recruited to make hospital beds for the Government.

We wish to thank you all for your patience during this period and can't wait to deliver the series V Hunter Scooter Wraith as soon as industry open back up for business. We will update you with progress reports as soon as they come to hand.

Sincerely and Stay safe

Luke @ Hunted HQ

HUNTER RIDERS, UNITE FOR MEN'S HEALTH

This year's Distinguished Gentleman's Ride marks the 3rd year where we dapper up, raise funds for men's health and we invite you to join us!

Dress up! Donate and make a Difference.

Dress up! Donate and make a Difference.

When we started Hunter Scooter in 2016 the mission was to produce a unique, low impact and highly customisable platform, that offered its owners the ability to stand out from the pack and reduce their carbon footprint without sacrificing style or individuality in a generic mass produced world.

This year will be the third year Hunted Scooters will be raising funds for a cause that not only allows us to dress up and have fun to increase awareness and funding for one of the biggest killers of men in Australia.

The ability to join in the fun and shed light on some tough health issues that traditionally are 'swept under the carpet' in Australian male culture only enhances our mission to allow men to express, discuss and display their individuality in an accepting and open forum.

This ride has already contributed millions to some of the most promising private and public studies for prostate cancer and have started a number of initiatives to open a narrative to give those riders who have experienced depression or mental health issues or have had friends and family experience this, with tools to discuss, identify and address this growing concern.

We ride this year to enable this voice to become louder so that those who have suffer can be heard and can eventually be treated. Men’s health doesn’t need to be stigmatised it needs to be addressed. Help us make a difference.

Donate below and join the ride… your hunter fits into a category of custom bike and with suitably dapper attire you can make a difference by riding united while standing out from the pack.

The Most Scenic Ride So Far!

The Line Up!

The Line Up!

On Sunday the 25th of August, A glimpse of Spring riding weather was enjoyed by all on our triple head cruise. The 42 riders that braved the early morning meet up had the pleasure of experiencing Sydney Harbour at its finest. By no means was this the longest, largest or fastest ride we have organised, it was by far one of the most scenic. Contending with some traffic and three national parks worth of speed humps, it’s understandable that most of our lower clearance riders did not want to risk losing their sump plugs on this journey, but those who took on the challenge, the rewards at the end destination made it all worthwhile. From our starting point at Mrs Macquarie chair, the team, collective filtered seamlessly amongst the busloads of tourists and gathered for our annual obligatory tourist photo in front of the iconic harbour features. As the sound of 40+ scooters and motorbikes starting brought this location alive we all headed north, with a slight twist in our ride route we entered the Cahill Expressway in front of the Art Gallery of NSW with heads turning everywhere.

head 2.jpg

After crossing the Harbour Bridge we headed directly to Bradley’s head, riding along the ridge of the heavily forested peninsular, with glimpses of the harbour’s water on both sides of the road right down to the top of the amphitheatre, you could easily be mistaken for riding on a small coastal town road.

As we looped around the Taronga Zoo Wharf past the waiting crowds lining up to enter the Zoo, we were greeted with waves, cheers and some were even filming the parade of mismatched rides and riders.

Out of one Harbour Park to the next, we made our way past the heavily fortified HMAS Penguin, along the middle head bunkers to Chowder Bay, with glimpses of our destination across the glistening waters of Sydney Harbour. Making our way along Balmoral beach and the Bather’s Pavilion we tackled the steepest street on the lower North Shore, that took us up to the beginning of The Spit. To the credit of all our corner markers and our tail gunner Sean on his Honda Monkey, we managed to keep the team in one pack.

Madest Monkey in Sydney!

Madest Monkey in Sydney!

Through Manly’s busy harbour beach, our climb began to the rocky outcrop that is North Head.

This is where our ride took a turn, after parking up, we all walked to the lookout, standing 90 meters above the waters and the entrance to Sydney’s harbour we drew our raffle.

Thank you to all the riders and various rides that attended, from our own Hunter Scooter in stock & custom format, a large and entertaining number of Honda Groms and Monkeys, in all colours and a myriad of highly customised rides which inspire us and love sharing these rides with.

Our goal with these events is to be all inclusive and to build a community who embraces the unique and different world of small fast things that roar!

All you need is a passion for small two wheeled beasts that bring you thrills.
